Edge Training was founded in 2000 from a vision birthed by Dave Blakemore while he was employed as a Senior Trainer at one of South Africa’s leading financial institutions. From the very beginning a choice was made to specialise in Human Development Training. As a result of this focused approach Edge Training now sets the standard in Employee, Supervisory and Middle Management Development Training.
The lessons and successes learned during the early years in the Corporate Arena allowed Edge Training the opportunity to pursue another of Dave’s visions - offering Leadership Development Training to the next generation. Edge now offer a specialised Leadership Development Program to School Learners of all ages. This fresh initiative pioneered by a separate specialised Youth Development Team has embraced the Edge Training philosophy of knowing and leading yourself before you can lead others.
In 2003 Dave Blakemore released his first book, “Better Marks in Less Time with More Fun,” which outlines his philosophy and belief regarding the acquiring and retention of new information and skills. To date over 22000 copies have been sold making it an International Best Seller. He has also recently completed his second book on Self Leadership which will be released in the near future.
As Edge Training grew in the Kwa-Zulu Natal market, the need for a National Footprint became more and more pressing, ultimately resulting in the unique agency concept. 2006 saw the first local agency opened in Cape Town and a steady stream of new agencies in South Africa and Africa continue to add to the Edge "footprint".
2011 has also seen a change to the Directorship and Management of Edge Training; with Dave Blakemore (Bachelor of Commerce, Business Management, UNISA) being joined by Motlatsi Liphoko (Masters in Training Management, University of the Free State), Mike Ward (Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting, UNISA) and Thandeka Mngadi (Bachelor of Technology, DUT).
With these changes we know that Edge Training will continue its upward growth curve well into the next decade and along with our ever growing presence in Africa and globally, we are confident that Edge Training Global will continue to positively influence and impact on human behaviour for many years to come.
